Privacy Policy

RAWD is an Islamic companion app providing prayer times, the Qibla direction, the Quran, Athkar and supplications. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your information.

1. Information stored on your device

All of the following stays on your phone. It is not transmitted anywhere unless you choose to create an account (see section 3).

• Your location coordinates, or the city you selected manually
• Your prayer calculation settings and time adjustments
• Reading position, bookmarks and notes in the Quran
• Athkar counters and daily progress
• Tasbih counts and history
• Favourites and collections
• Custom wird routines
• Consistency streaks and daily activity
• App preferences such as language, theme, text size and notification settings

You can erase all of it at any time: Settings → Privacy → Clear data on this device.

2. Location

RAWD asks for location permission only after explaining why, and uses it only to calculate prayer times for where you are, and to calculate the direction of the Qibla.

• Location is requested only while you are using the app. RAWD never requests or uses background location, and the Android background-location permission is explicitly blocked in the app's manifest.
• The app takes a single reading when needed. It does not follow you.
• Accuracy is deliberately set to "balanced" rather than the highest available, because prayer times change by less than a minute over tens of kilometres. RAWD does not ask for more precision than the feature needs.
• Your coordinates are used on your device to compute prayer times and the Qibla bearing. They are not sent to us — we operate no server that receives them.
• One exception: to display a city name, the app asks your phone's operating system to convert your coordinates into a place name. On iOS this is handled by Apple. That lookup is optional; if it fails, everything still works and only the city label is missing.
• If you refuse location permission, you can pick your city from a built-in list instead, and all features continue to work.

RAWD does not send your GPS coordinates or selected city to advertisers. AdMob may infer an approximate location from your IP address when you use advertising services (see section 4).

3. Optional account

Creating an account is entirely optional and the app is complete without one.

If you do create one, we store — using Supabase as our database provider — your email address and the data you choose to sync: bookmarks and their notes, favourites, custom wird routines, the last reading position, and streak counts.

• Signing in merges your device data with your account. Nothing on your device is deleted.
• We do not sync your GPS location or a prayer log. Synced bookmarks, favourites and the last reading position can reveal the religious content you save or read; they are stored with your account to provide its features, not supplied to advertising networks.
• You can delete your account and everything synced to it at any time: Profile → Delete account. This is immediate and permanent.

If you sign in with Apple, Apple provides us with your email address (or a private relay address if you choose to hide it) and, optionally, your name.

4. Advertising and privacy choices

Free users may see advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. RAWD requests non-personalised ads; this does not mean the advertising service collects no data.

• AdMob may collect IP addresses (which can indicate approximate location), app- or device-related identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, crash information, and performance diagnostics for advertising, reporting, fraud prevention and service operation.
• RAWD does not supply GPS coordinates, Quran text, supplications, saved religious content or prayer activity to the advertising SDK.
• Interstitials (full-screen ads) are capped at two per local day, with a launch grace period and minimum interval. Banners may appear on the More screen and are not part of that two-interstitial limit. Ads are not placed inside the Quran reader, between Athkar, over Qibla, or on prayer-time screens.
• The updated app checks Google's User Messaging Platform before requesting ads and displays the applicable consent message. If that check fails, ads remain off. Where Google requires an ongoing privacy-options entry, use Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices to review or change your choices. Older builds may need updating to offer this control.
• On iOS, RAWD asks for Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission after onboarding, before contacting the advertising consent service or initializing ads. With permission, Google may use device identifiers and advertising interactions for advertising and measurement. If permission is denied, restricted or unavailable, RAWD keeps advertising disabled. Core features remain available. Regional consent is requested separately where required, and RAWD continues to request non-personalised ads. You can change Apple's permission in iOS Settings. Older TestFlight builds may need updating to use this permission flow.

Premium removes advertising. The app's usage-analytics toggle does not control AdMob. Google privacy policy.

5. Purchases

Apple processes iOS purchases; RevenueCat validates receipts and manages subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives purchase history, product and transaction information, subscription status and an app user identifier for subscription functionality and purchase analytics. RAWD does not receive your payment-card details.

Without an account, RevenueCat uses an anonymous app user ID. When account services are enabled and you sign in, RAWD can associate purchases with your account ID. Purchase records may remain with Apple or RevenueCat for transaction, fraud-prevention or retention requirements after a RAWD account is deleted. 6. Quran recitation

Recitation audio is streamed on demand from MP3Quran.net (older versions used Quran.com). When you play a recitation, that service receives your IP address and which chapter you requested, as any web request would. Downloading a surah for offline listening stores it on your device only.

7. App usage analytics

No external app-usage analytics provider is connected in this release. The Share anonymous usage data switch controls RAWD's own usage-event layer; it does not control AdMob, RevenueCat or the network requests needed for recitation and account services. These services are described above. RAWD does not send religious activity to an advertising analytics provider.

8. Children

RAWD is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

9. Your rights

You may at any time erase everything stored on your device, delete your account and all synced data, turn off analytics, turn off all notifications, or use the entire app with no account at all.

If you are in a jurisdiction granting rights of access, correction, portability or erasure (such as the GDPR), contact us and we will respond within the period required by that law.

10. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes.
